Wechsler Scale
A Verbal Intelligence Test Perhaps one of the most challenging intelligence tests is the Wechsler…
Our brains are just like a muscle and need exercise to function properly. There are many things we can do to increase intelligence and they are all very simple. How do you think your brain will function if you drink alcohol excessively or use drugs? If you are abusing yourself, your brain deteriorates and so does your ability, to learn, think, and problem-solve.The logic is that the more you use your brain, the better it works. Do you want to increase your intelligence? Here are five simple ways to increase intelligence and get more productivity out of your brain:
Exercise your whole Body
Too many of us are missing out on the benefits of exercise, and spend any spare time in front of the computer or television. Exercise is fantastic for your body as well as your brain matter as you can use the time to be part of the world around you. You are learning as you take a daily walk, meeting new people, and sending energy through your body to revitalize it.After exercise your head feels clearer and your concentration is better.
Read Books that Challenge
There is a lot to learn from reading the classics. They can help you improve your reading and writing, and help you see the world from a different perspective. The good old suspense novel is fun to read, but something more complex is interesting as well as training your brain to think.Challenging books teach you new ideas and help you focus. Do not be afraid to learn lessons from them and look up any words you do not understand. If you need to, reread the book to understand the author’s perspective.
Take Time Out
Are you someone who has a hectic schedule? Are you always on the go? So busy you do not get time out for yourself? Is your life on automatic pilot, where you just go from one activity to another without much thought? Do you have nagging thoughts interrupting any reflection time you have?
You need to take time out every single day to revitalize your brain. It gives you time to reflect on your life, what is happening, what you want to do, and how to improve your life. At the same time it is an opportunity to prioritize the important things in your life and realize what is not important so you can let go of it.
There is no need to sit in a darkened room chanting, get out and take a walk, take the dog to the park. Spend some time reflecting on your life every day and your intelligence will increase.
Stop being a Couch Potato
It is a well known fact that the more time you spend in front of the television, the more it dulls your brain. How much time do you spend vegetating in front of the television every day? We all do it. The problem is it uses no brain power and it does not increase intelligence. How do you feel after a few hours in front of the television? Drained? Are your eyes sore? Do you even feel relaxed?Try relaxing with a good book, or close your eyes and listen to some music. When you have family and friends visit, leave the television off and enjoy each other’s conversation. Try it, you might be surprised.
Get a Good Night’s Sleep
How often do you get up in the morning not feeling rested? How often do you go to bed too late and have to get up early? You do yourself no favors when you do not get between 6 and 8 hours sleep. You will wake up lethargic, unable to concentrate. And do not think sleeping in helps any either. Compensating for hours of missed sleep by sleeping more than 8 hours at a time just makes you more sluggish.
Usually the morning is the most productive time of the day, with your concentration levels at their peak. It makes sense to get up early to maximize your brain’s productivity.Taking a 10 or 20 minute nap during the day is also refreshing. Any longer, though, and you will feel lethargic and have trouble concentrating.
As you can see, none of these tips are new or groundbreaking, just pure commonsense. It is about breaking your habits to increase intelligence and to live a more balanced life.
